Redbird Crest Trail #801

Area Status: Open

Redbird Crest Trail, which begins and ends near the Redbird District office, is part of the Redbird Crest Trail System. The trail generally follows the ridgetops. Some parts may be rough and steep. It is a multiple use trail, which means that hikers, horses, mountain bikes and off-highway vehicles are welcome. Some of the trail is open to street legal vehicles only, and some of the trail is open to single track OHV only (motorcycles).

General Information

Accessibility:

There are accessible toilets available at Peabody OHV trailhead, Bear Creek OHV Trailhead and Sugar Creek OHV Trailhead.


Directions:

From Big Creek (exit 34) of Hal Rogers Parkway, travel east on KY 66 .7 miles to the junction with US 421 and KY 80. Proceed south on KY 66 .8 miles to Junction with US 421 and KY 80. Continue south on KY 66 1.7 miles to Redbird district office on the right.


General Notes:

OPEN TO MOTORCYCLE/ATV USE:
Motorcycle and ATV's are allowed on the Redbird Crest trail system. Currently, ATVs cannot be licensed or registered in Kentucky. Therefore, ATV operation is restricted to use on trails that are specifically designated and signed for ATV use. Only vehicles less than 50 inches in width will be allowed on these routes.

CLOSED TO MOTORCYCLE/ATV USE:
Cross-country motorized vehicle travel is not permitted, including hill climbs. Motorized vehicles are not permitted to travel on closed roads unless they are designated as open for that particular use. Open trails will be marked by orange diamonds located along the trail. Signs at each trailhead indicate the particular use permitted.
