Holly Bay Campground

Area Status: Open

Holly Bay Campground is located on the west side of Laurel River Lake on London Ranger District. The campground offers 75 RV sites that may be reserved. All walk-in sites and non-reserved site are on a first-come first-served basis.

Each site has a paved vehicle pad, gravel tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. The drive-in sites have electricity and water. The walk-in tent sites have access to centrally located water but no electricity.

The campground is closed during winter months. Holly Bay Campground is operated by a concessionare under an agreement with the U.S. Forest Service. For more information, call 606-878-8134 or 606-401-2145 during open campground season. 

A public swimming beach is located nearby at the spillway of Laurel River Lake dam. The boat ramp at the campground is for campers only. A fish cleaning station is provided nearby.

Holly Bay Marina is a full-service facility located near the campground where rental boats, camping and fishing supplies, fishing licenses and maps can be obtained. The marina, open year round, has accessible features.

Laurel River Lake features 5,600 acres of clear, deep water and nearly 200 miles of tree-lined shore. The quiet coves and cliff-lined shores offer relaxation and quiet reflection, as well as boating, fishing, skiing and scuba diving in one of the deepest and cleanest lakes in Kentucky.

Reservations: Reservations are required for drive-in sites in Loops A, D, E, F, G, H. Reserve a site by visiting www.recreation.gov. Reservations are not required for Loops B, C, or sites 14-21 in Loop G. These sites are first-come, first-served.

General Notes:

The campground does not have a developed swimming area. A public swimming beach is located nearby at the spillway of Laurel River Lake dam. The beach is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. 


Parking:

Parking is available at each campsite and at the amphitheater, boat ramp, and walk-in campsite area. 


Directions:

From I-75 exit 38, travel west on KY 192 for 14.2 miles. Turn left on KY 1193 and go 3 miles.

Activities

Campground Camping

A number of sites offer a view of the water, but none are located directly on the lake shore. Each site has a paved vehicle pad, gravel tent pad, fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. The drive-in sites have electricity and water. The walk-in tent sites have access to centrally located water but no electricity.

Fire Information Campfires are permitted in fire rings only. Make sure fires are out before retiring at night or when leaving your campsite.

A recreation vehicle dump station is located near the campground entrance.

Visitor Programs

Special programs and entertainment are routinely provided for campers at the campground amphitheater. Check the Daniel Boone National Forest website or a campground bulletin board for program information.
