Gladie Visitor Center opening has been delayed to protect the health and safety of visitors and our staff. We are following the guidelines from our department and the CDC, closely monitoring the situation and responding to current conditions. No tentative reopening date for this site has been announced. 

Backcountry camping permits, maps, and information about the Red River Gorge may be obtained at the Cumberland District Office. Give them a call at 606-784-6428 if you need assistance or have questions!

The Gladie Visitor Center is located in the Red River Gorge. Learn about the cultural heritage, unique resources and spectacular geology found within the boundaries of the Red River Gorge Geological Area and Clifty Wilderness.

Interpretive exhibits provide a glimpse into the past and convey the wild, natural beauty that visitors seek today when entering the Red River Gorge. 

Information about trails, camping and other activities in the area are available at the center. Maps and visitor passes are available for purchase.

RRG Scenic Byway

General Information


From I-64, take exit 98 to the Bert T. Combs Mountain Parkway. From the parkway, take exit 33 (Slade) and turn left onto KY 11. To access Gladie through Nada Tunnel, turn left onto KY 15 and travel 1.5 miles west to KY 77. Follow 77 to KY 715 and turn right. Stay on 715 and follow the signs to Gladie.


Parking is available at Gladie Visitor Center.
