Jack Lake Trailhead

The Jack Lake Trailhead is located north of Sisters near Jack Lake and provides beautiful views to Canyon Creek Meadows, as well as around and to popular Three Fingered Jack.

You will access Mt. Jefferson Wilderness shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required. See "Permit Info" below for more details.

Recreation Fee Site: Parking at Jack Lake Trailhead requires a $5/vehicle payment or a valid recreation pass. Passes can be purchased from Forest Service offices or local vendors. See "Passes" below for more information.

Restrictions:
  • Wilderness restrictions apply in the Mt. Jefferson Wilderness.
  • Pamelia Lake – No camping within 100 feet of high-water mark of lake or any other water source
  • Campfires are prohibited above 5,700 feet and within these lake basins:
    • Marion Lake
    • Ann Lake
    • Table Lake
  • Motorized and mechanical equipment (including bicycles and drones) are prohibited in the Wilderness
  • Groups must be under 12 people and 12 head of stock
  • Build campfires at least 100 feet away from water
  • Pack in / Pack out!
  • “Take only pictures, leave only footprints” — please refrain from cutting, damaging, or gathering vegetation or other forest items (e.g. rocks, artifacts, etc.)
  • Please bury human waste 6-8 inches deep and at least 200 feet away from water

General Information

Directions:

From Sisters, OR -
Take Highway 20 north for approximately 12 miles. Turn right on Forest Road 12. Follow Forest Road 12 for 4 miles until it veers left, turns into a dirt road and is now Forest Road 1230. Take Forest Road 1230 for about 2 miles until it splits, take a left at the 'Y' on to Forest Road 1234. Follow Forest Road 1234 for about 7 miles until it dead ends at the trailhead.
