East Lake Boating Site

East Lake is situated in the Newberry Caldera and is fed by snowmelt and underground springs.

This boat launch is on the southwest side of East Lake within the East Lake Campground and has a paved boat ramp and small parking lot.

Recreation Fee Site: Parking at this site requires a recreation pass. Passes are NOT available at this site, but can be purchased from Forest Service offices or vendors. Please check here for more information about recreation passes and where they can be purchased.

  • Northwest Forest Pass
  • Interagency Annual Pass
  • Interagency Senior Pass (America the Beautiful, Golden Age)
  • Interagency Access Pass
  • Interagency Military Pass

At a Glance

Operational Hours: 2021 season - Please be aware that water levels are lower than normal at East Lake. No docks are installed at East Lake Boating Site at this time.
The public can access East Lake at Hot Springs Boating Site or Cinder Hill Boating Site (South).
Fees $5/vehicle/day or valid recreation pass – On site payment not available. Payments can be made at the Paulina Visitor Center.

General Information


From Bend, OR: Travel south on Highway 97 for approximately 20.3 miles, then turn left at County Road 21 (Paulina-East Lake Road) and travel 16 miles to the East Lake Campground.
