Green Lakes Trail

 

Dogs need to be on-leash on trails in the Three Sisters Wilderness (Green Lakes, Moraine Lakes,

Dogs need to be on-leash in Three Sisters Wilderness on: Green Lakes, Moraine Lakes, South Sister, Soda Creek, Todd Lake and Crater Ditch Trails, from July 15 to September 15. 

  

This popular trail leaves from the Green Lakes/Soda Creek trailhead  and proceeds north up Falls Creek to Green Lakes and continues to the pass between the South Sister and Broken Top above Green Lakes.  At the pass the Green Lake Trail #17 becomes the Green Lakes Trail #4070.

Fees Day and Overnight visitors: Central Cascades Wilderness Permit required between Friday of Memorial Day weekend and the last Friday of September; reserve at Recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
Parking: a valid recreation pass may be used as a form of fee payment or Central Cascades Wilderness Permit holders must leave a copy of their permit trailhead pass on windshield in vehicle.
Permit Info: The trail enters the Three Sisters Wilderness shortly after leaving the trailhead. Wilderness Permits are required.
Restrictions: Wilderness restrictions apply

  • Motorized and mechanical equipment (including bicycles and drones) are prohibited in the wilderness.
  • Groups must be under 12 people and 12 head of stock.
  • Build campfires at least 100 feet away from water.
  • Pack in / Pack out!
  • “Take only pictures, leave only footprints” — please refrain from cutting, damaging, or gathering vegetation or other forest items, i.e. rocks, etc.
  • Please bury human waste 6-8 inches deep and at least 200 feet away from water.

Directions: Green Lakes Trailhead is 27 miles west of Bend on Century Drive.
