RV Camping

Forest Service campgrounds do not provide hook-ups to power, water, or sewer

Hook-ups to power, water, and sewer are available at Lakeside Resort (435.896.1000) and Bowery Haven Resort (435.896.1024)

Lake and Pond Fishing

Fishing licenses are available at Lakeside Resort.

Fish Lake:  Solid ice covers most of the lake, but the edges are starting to soften in a few places, so use caution. There may be a couple more weeks of ice fishing left. The patch of open water around the Twin Creeks area is growing, and some anglers are now catching rainbows from the shoreline. Fishing remains good to excellent for perch and rainbows in 15–30 feet of water. You can catch larger rainbows in deeper water. Fishing for splake and lake trout is slow to fair. Tip your jigs and spoons with mealworms, waxworms, nightcrawlers, perch meat, or sucker meat.

Johnson Reservoir:  There isn't much fishing pressure at this time of year because it's difficult to access the reservoir.

Fremont River:  Access is good above Mill Meadow Reservoir, and the river's flows are low. Reports of good fishing for small browns and recommends hare's ear nymphs in black or natural colors. Fishing is generally slow in the Bicknell Bottoms, but a few nice fish have been caught on brown woolly buggers. Patience is a must when fishing here.

Mill Meadow Reservoir:  The ice is gone, and the reservoir is almost full. Reports of good numbers of browns and rainbows. Rainbow trout have been staging in any area where there is enough gravel for spawning. Midge patterns and bead-head hare's ear have worked well.

Forsyth Reservoir:  Most of the ice is gone and there is very little fishing pressure.  The splake and tiger trout stocked last summer are about eight inches long and fishing has been slow so far this spring.

River and Stream Fishing

Sevenmile Creek, UM Creek, and the Fremont River are within close proximity to the campground and provide numerous fishing opportunities.

Big Game Hunting

Hunting is prohibited within 600 feet of all roads, trails, campgrounds.

Viewing Wildlife

Elk, moose, deer, bobcat, cougar, bear, Golden and Bald eagles, osprey, beaver, porcupine, chipmunks, marmots, and several species of upland game birds, song birds, and raptors

Look to see how many varities of wildlife you can see.  Remember, you are visiting their home so be polite and don't litter or disturb the wildlife.

Viewing Scenery

Fishlake Scenic Byway U-25:  Travel from the junction of U-24 to U-72

Other scenic roads include Hancock Flat, Mytoge Mountain, Fish Lake Hightop, Sevenmile, UM, and Fremont River

Scenic Driving

Fishlake Scenic Byway (U-25) begins at the junction of U-24 and ends at the junction of U-72.  Scenic sites include Fish Lake, the Fish Lake Lodge, Johnson Valley Reservoir, Zedd's Meadow and Mill Meadow Reservoir.  Approximate driving time is one hour.  Visitors will want to keep their cameras loaded and ready for snapshops of panoramic views and frequent wildlife sightings.
