Mill Dam has been a popular destination for generations. In the shade of live oaks overlooking the 168-acre Mill Dam Lake, Mill Dam Recreation Area offers two different experiences.

  • March 16 - September 30 -- This area is a day-use recreation area only with a large swimming area and wheelchair-accessible sandy beach.
  • October 1 to March 15 -- This area is a group campground / recreation area for day-use and tent camping.

  • Canoe or kayak Mill Dam Lake by launching either at the recreation area (which involves a haul or wheel to the beach) or via the adjacent boat launch.

  • October 1 – March 15, the Mill Dam Group Campground is available for overnight stays. Group campground reservations may be made by phone at 1-877-444-6777 or online at

  • Anglers come from all over to enjoy bass fishing on Mill Dam Lake. Access the boat launch before the entrance to the recreation area.
  • Fishing is not permitted from the bank of the recreation area.

  • Under the deep shade of live oaks overlooking Mill Dam Lake is a beautiful spot for a family picnic. Large shelters also make the recreation area ideal for family reunions and other gatherings.

  • Busy during the summer months, the swimming area has a nice beach along Mill Dam Lake and is wheelchair accessible.

  • Waterskiing is popular on Mill Dam Lake. Launch boats at the adjoining boat ramp.

This site is operated by Adventure Ocala.
