The Maidu Lake Trail heads west, from Miller Lake, for 4.5 miles to Maidu Lake within Mt. Thielsen Wilderness. Maidu Lake Trail crosses the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000 on its way to the lake. This is a great access trail for both the Pacific Crest Trail and Mt. Thielsen Wilderness. 

Maidu Lake Trail crosses a forested mountain pass north of Mt. Thielsen to Maidu Lake, the source of the North Umpqua River. For a shorter hike from the same trailhead, try the 5 mile path around Miller Lake. Be prepared for mosquitoes in June-July.

The trail begins at Miller Lake near Digit Point Campground. The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking, Horseback Riding

General Information

Directions:

Maidu Lake Trail begins from the east side of Miller Lake near Digit Point Campground 35 minutes west of Chemult, Oregon.

From Chemult, take U.S. Highway 97 north towards Crescent, Oregon, for approximately one mile and then turn left onto Forest Service (FS) Road 9772 and follow to the trailhead and campground.
