Open Forest Trail

Area Status: Unknown
This is a leisurely, half-mile 'walk and watch' experience through a spawling, open stand of old-growth ponderosa pines. Some of these trees are over 150 feet high and 300 years old! The area is frequented by elk, antelope, deer, rabbits, coyotes, badger, porcupines, birds and other critters that belong to this ecosystem. To spot them, arrive early in the morning or at the end of the day, find a hiding place, then quietly and patiently watch.Access for long RVs and buses is difficult.
