This trail is open to hiker and horse use only.

This trail begins on Packwood Lake Trail #78 at the lake and follows the lakeshore until it comes to Upper Lake Creek. Leaving Packwood Lake, the trail follows Upper Lake Creek at an even grade through dense forest for 4 miles. The trail then climbs steeply to join Coyote Trail #79 at the Packwood Saddle. Features include oldgrowth cedar, Packwood Lake and views. This trail is within Goat Rocks Wilderness.

Current Conditions: 11/26/2018: Snow level approximately 3000'. There are 90+ trees down on the trail. Please call the local Ranger District office for up-to-date information. A Northwest Forest Pass is not required in the off season to park at the Packwood Lake trailhead A fee tube is located at the motorized trailhead below the parking lot.
Permit Info: Free Wilderness Permit required.  Available at the trailhead.
