Sno-Park: SnowKing

In a mature and varied forest setting interspersed with mountain meadows and geographic features, this park is near the Mt. Adams Wilderness. Here visitors will find access to trails leading to remote forest lakes, high-mountain elevations and some of the most spectacular country found anywhere.

Ski trails around SnowKing Sno-Park

This Sno-park is a heavily used by both motorized and non-motorized users.  The area accesses 20 miles of non-motorized, groomed cross-country ski trails and many miles of backcountry ski and snowmobile terrain. No groomed snowmobile trails.

Current Conditions: 3/30/2018: Recommending using Atkisson Sno-Park at this time of year. There are currently too many bare spots for skiing/snowshoeing at Snowking unless new snow arrives. Washington Sno-Park permit required Dec.1-Mar.31.
Permit Info: A valid Washington State Sno-Park Permit is required December 1 to March 31.
  • Sno-park permits help pay for snow removal, trail grooming, sanitation facilities, mapping, trail signs, safety education, enforcement and program administration.

Restrictions: Motorized vehicles are not allowed in the nearby Mt. Adams Wilderness.
  • Violations of 36 CFR 261 may result in confiscation of equipment, fines up to $5,000.00, and/or six months in jail.

General Information

Accessibility:

This site is in a remote forest setting. The parking area is flat, but terrain will be difficult, especially in winter.


Parking:

Parking is limited, please leave one lane around the outside of the parking lot for vehicles to enter and exit. Parking lot has a 25 vehicle capacity.


Directions:

From Stevenson, WA, take State Route 14 east for about 14 miles to Alt. Highway 141. Follow Highway 141 for about 23 miles to Trout Lake, WA. In Trout Lake, WA veer right and head north on Mt. Adams Recreation Road (at the gas station). Follow Mount Adams Road north then stay straight on Forest Road 82 and follow for about another couple of miles.
