This trail is open to motorcycle, hiker, horse and bicycle use.

This trail begins on Forest Road 2816 and climbs to the ridgeline, offering views north of Pinto Rock (the eroded remains of volcanic rock), Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens.  The trail drops over the ridge just beyond the half-mile point and continues south of the ridge, with a steep descent toward the Badger Lake area.  The trail then joins with Badger Peak Trail #257A before ending at the Boundary Trail #1. The 0.3-mile Badger Peak Trail once provided access to the fire lookout perched high on the 5,664 feet summit of Badger Peak. The lookout was built in 1926. It was abandoned and eventually removed in the 1960s.

General Information


From Randle, WA travel south on State Highway 131 (Forest Roads 23 and 25). Veer right in 1 mile at the Y of Forest Roads 23 and Forest Road 25. Follow Forest Road 25 for 20.1 miles and turn left on Forest Road 28. Follow Forest Road 28 for 2.8 miles and turn right on Forest Road 2816. Follow Forest Road 2816 for 4.5 miles and arrive at the trail at the end of the road.
