Sno-Park: Johnson Creek

Area Status: Open

In a mature and varied forest setting interspersed with mountain meadows and geographic features near Goat Rocks Wilderness where Wilderness Regulations apply.  Here visitors will find access to trails leading to remote forest lakes, high-mountain elevations and some of the most spectacular country found anywhere.

Heavy snowmobile use in an open area. This sno-park provides access to a groomed trail system.

Current Conditions: (12/17/24):  One (1) to two (2) inches of snow on roads. Sno-Park passes are required December 1-March 31. This Sno-Park is managed by Washington State Parks. Permit Info: Washington State Sno-Park Permit is required for each vehicle December 1 to March 31. Sno-Park permits are available to purchase online and also at Ashford Valley Grocery in Ashford, Trout Lake Grocery in Trout Lake and the Chelatchie Prairie General Store in Amboy. Sno-park permits help pay for snow removal, trail grooming, sanitation facilities, mapping, trail signs, safety education, enforcement and program administration.

Restrictions: Motorized vehicles are not allowed in the adjacent Goat Rocks Wilderness. Violations of 36 CFR 261 may result in confiscation of equipment, fines up to $5,000.00, and/or six months in jail. Wilderness restrictions apply in Goat Rocks Wilderness.

General Information

Directions:

From Interstate 5, head east on US Highway 12 to Forest Road 21, turn south and drive to the Forest Road 21/2130 junction.


Parking:

Parking lot has a 10 vehicle parking capacity.


Accessibility:

This site is in a remote forest setting. The parking area is flat, but terrain will be difficult, especially in winter.
