Trail #130A Chinook Creek

Area Status: Closed

Alert: The log bridge over Siouxon Creek at the intersection with Siouxon Trail was severely damaged in the Big Hollow Fire and is closed. Hikers travel at their own risk. Please review safety tips for burned areas.

This 3.2 mile trail runs north and south between Siouxon Trail #130 and Huffman Peak Trail #129. Views of the 50 foot high Chinook Creek Waterfall and a climb through old growth forest are attractions on the Chinook Trail.

A log bridge crossing Siouxon Creek marks the beginning of this trail from Siouxon Trail. The trail fords Chinook Creek twice which can be 2 to 3 feet deep until late summer; therefore, proceed with caution. After crossing the creek, the 50-foot cascade of Chinook Creek Waterfall comes into view as it plunges down to a clear green pool. The trail then climbs through an old-growth forest before ending at it's junction with Huffman Peak Trail #129 just west of Forest Road 6403.

Special Conditions: There is no bridge over Chinook Creek. Crossings can be difficult during high water.

Current Conditions:	05/19/2023: While portions of the Chinook Creek Trail are technically open, it can not be accessed from the Siouxon Trailhead due to a closure from the 2022 Siouxon Fire. Expect to see consistant snow pack at starting at 3,000 feet with patchy snow lower down.
