Horse Camp: Lewis River

Area Status: Closed

This rustic horse camp has access to many mixed use trails. There is a highline in each site and a stock only water trough with access to the Quartz Creek Trail and Lewis River Trail.

There are nine camp sites and parking for 10 trailers and 15 vehicles.

Day Use: There are 16 spaces for day use parking adjacent to the campground at Platinum Creek trailhead.

Current Conditions:	10/19/2024: campground is closed for the winter season. When it is open there is a $15 charge per site per night. Contact Mt. Adams Ranger District for further information (509) 395-3402.
Reservations:	Camping: First come, first serve for camping. Day Use: The 16 day-use parking sites are within the Lewis River Recreation Area where advanced reservations via Recreation.gov are required daily June 15 through September 06.

Directions:

From Cougar, Washington drive east on Forest Road 90 past Lower Lewis Falls Campground to Forest Road 93. Turn left on Forest Road 93 and go 1/8 mile to the horse camp on the right.

Horse Riding

Trails accessible from the camp include Quartz Creek Trail #5 (plus #5B and #5C) and Lewis River Trail #31 which create additional access to Trails #1, #2, #3, #3A, #4, #17, #18, #19, #25, #80, and #80A. All of these are also open to mountain bikes and some allow motorcycles.
