Trailhead: Potato Hill - Pacific Crest Trail

Provides access to: Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail #2000 which enters Mt. Adams Wilderness to the south.

The parking area is gravel and has a 4 vehicle capacity.

Current Conditions: 8/9/24: Evacuation precaution measures in effect due to William Mine Fire. You cannot access this area: see the Forest Road 23 and 2329 Alert. When trail is reopened the conditions as of 7/19/24: Trail in good condition from Potato Hill to Divide Trail. Hazardous creek crossing on Adams Creek near junction with PCT and Divide Trail.

Permit Info: Wilderness Permit required when entering Mt. Adams Wilderness. Free self-issue Wilderness Permit available at trailhead.

General Information

Directions:

From Trout Lake, WA take Mt Adams Road for 1.3 mi. Continue on Forest Road 23 towards ​Randle and follow for approximately 23 miles. Then take Forest Road 2329 (towards Takhlakh Lake) and stay on 2329 for about about 10 miles. Then go right on Forest Road 5603 and travel for about 1.7 miles to the trailhead.
