Campground: Peterson Prairie Group Camp

Area Status: Closed

This site is a small camping site with a lean-to shelter and a fire ring. This is located in an attractive wooded area on the south flank of Mt. Adams. It is popular for winter recreation. A trail that is part of the Gotchen Creek Trail complex used for equestrian use, mountain bikes, and hiking runs near the shelter.

RV's may park in front of the shelter. There are no actual campsites here, but there are places for tent camping.

General Information

Directions:

From White Salmon, WA take State Route 141 north to Trout Lake, WA. Turn north on Mt Adams Highway (at the gas station) and continue north to the V intersection with Forest Road 23. At this interesection fork to the right. Continue driving for one mile to the turn onto Forest Road 80, signed South Climb. Make the left hand turn on to Forest Road 80 and continue north to the intersection with Forest Roads 8031 and 8040. Turn right on to Forest Road 8040.  Continue driving north for about 21/2 miles to the shelter on the left.
