Trailhead: Snowgrass for hikers

Area Status: Open

Provides access to: Goat Ridge Trail #95 and Snowgrass Trail #96 which lead into Goat Rocks Wilderness.

Please note, despite some non-USDA maps, there are no established campgrounds in Goat Rock Wilderness. There are areas that have been used as campgrounds throughout the years by multiple parties during summer and fall but it is prohibited to set up camp within a 1/4 mile of Snow Grass Flats, Goat Lake, or Sheep Lake.

Current Conditions: 7/29/24: Hiking is accessible to Goat Lake. Lake is under snow at this time. No camping within 200 feet of Goat Lake shore and no camping within 1/4 mile radius of Snowgrass Flats meadows. Our forest is considered in High Fire Danger. Campfires are prohibited in Wilderness see FOREST ORDER NO. 06-03-00-24-01

Permit Info: Wilderness permits are required. The self-issuing permits are free and are available at trailheads.

Directions:

From Packwood, WA travel west on US-12 for 2.7 miles then go left on Forest Road 21. Stay on Forest Road 21 for 13 miles then take a slight left towards Forest Road 2150. Follow 2150 and take the 045 spur to the trailhead.
