Trail #205 Goat Creek


Area Status: Open

Goat Creek Trail is 5.5 miles long and begins in old growth Douglas Fir and Western Red Cedar.  After 0.5 miles the trail passes underneath spectacular waterfalls, then follows Goat Creek. It crosses a small creek twice as it climbs to views of the forest below. The trail wanders near open meadows and rock cliffs before it meets with Goat Mountain Trail #217 south of Vanson Peak.

Special conditions: Wet in the spring and no bridges over stream crossings.  

Access to the trailhead is on private land. Check for road closures during fire season.

Current Conditions: 5/30/23: Forest Road 27 and 2750 are accessible to trailhead with some potholes difficult for low clearance vehicles to navigate. Once on trail you will encounter a rolling path with few sloughs and some moderately difficult stream crossings. Use caution, walking or hiking sticks are recommened. 
Operational Hours: Goat Creek Trailhead access road can be closed during fire season by Port Blakely Timber Company.
Fees: No fee or pass required. See Mount St. Helens Map for fee and payment sites.

General Information

Directions:

From Randle, WA head west on US-12 for 10.2 miles. Turn left on Glenoma Road and continue for about 1.7 miles. Turn left on Champion Haul Road and follow for about 3.4 miles (you will pass Taidnapam Park and cross the Cowlitz River). Then go right onto Forest Road 27 and follow for about 0.8 miles. Then stay left on Forest Road 2750 and continue for about 3.5 miles. 

*Please note the access road to this trailhead is on private land.
