Campground: Chambers Lake

Area Status: Open

This campground is less than one mile from the very popular Snowgrass and Berry Patch trailheads, which lead into the Goat Rocks WildernessBe sure to fill out a Wilderness Permit before entering the designated Wilderness. The Klickitat Loop Trails is also in the area. The site is heavily treed with a mix of Doug Fir, Hemlock and cedar, providing cool shade on warm afternoons. Self-producing brook trout provide the bulk of the fishery here. Brown trout are stocked. Swimming and non-motorized boating are allowed.

Current Conditions: **Camping fees will be collected, beginning Summer 2025.**  (10/31/2024):  Concessionaire services have ended for the season. Garbage removal and bathroom maintenance are not provided during off season (from September 2024 to June 2025). Public users are welcome to utilize the recreation site during the off season, but must follow our Dispersed Camping policy, need to practice Leave No Trace principles, and are expected to PACK-OUT all trash at the end of their visit. As seasons change, weather can change rapidly. Be prepared for travel conditions before heading out on your next adventure. Check current weather here. Accumulating winter snow depth will generally make this area inaccessible by vehicle from December to June.

Directions:

From Packwood, WA travel west on US-12 for 2.7 miles then go left on Forest Road 21. Stay on Forest Road 21 for 13 miles then take a slight left towards Forest Road 2150. Follow 2150 to the campground

Lake and Pond Fishing

Self-reproducing brook trout, mostly stunted from overpopulation, provide the bulk of the fishery here. Brown trout are stocked, and can grow to a decent size with all those little brook trout to feed on.
