Sno-Park: Atkisson

In a mature and varied forest setting interspersed with mountain meadows and geographic features, this park is near the Mt. Adams Wilderness. Here visitors will find access to trails leading to remote forest lakes, high-mountain elevations and some of the most spectacular country found anywhere.

Ski trails at Atkisson Sno-Park.

This area offers 16k of ski and snowshoe trails (marked but not groomed) and 154 miles of groomed snowmobile trails. This Sno-Park features a warming hut with wood stove. Parking lot capacity is 30 vehicles. In the summer, this site can be reserved as Atkisson Group Camp.

Permit Info: A valid Washington State Sno-Park Permit is required for each vehicle December 1 to March 31.  Sno-Park permits are also available for purchase at Cowlitz Valley Ranger Station, Mt. Adams Ranger Station, and the Chelatchie Prairie General Store in Amboy.
  • Sno-park permits help pay for snow removal, trail grooming, sanitation facilities, mapping, trail signs, safety education, enforcement and program administration.

General Information


From Trout Lake, Washington, drive 6 miles southwest on Hwy 141 to the entrance of the Sno-park.


This site is easier than most to reach. The parking area is flat, but terrain will be difficult, especially in winter.
