Pinon Campground Site

This is a nice, quiet and clean campground nestled among piñon and juniper trees.

The camp sites are nestled among mature piñon and juniper trees. It is tranquil and undiscovered with a few sites having a view of Quemado Lake. The campground is comprised of a family camping loop (east side) and a group camping loop (west side). All group sites are closed, and the dump station is closed.

Current Conditions: Closed for the season. Anticipated reopening Mother's Day weekend 2021
Operational Hours: The Pinon Campground will be closing for the season on September 8, 2020 at 8:00 a.m. We anticipate this site reopening May 7, 2021.
Reservations: This campground is first-come/first-serve. The group sites are closed due to COVID-19.  When there is no longer the need for COVID-19 group size precautions, the group sites will be available for reservation on Recreation.gov

Fees There is a $10.00 fee for the tent sites in this campground.  "America the Beautiful" Interagency Senior and Access Passes are honored for the tent site area only for 50% discount.

  • There is a 14 day stay limit for all campgrounds on the Gila National Forest.
  • Fires permitted only in fire rings provided. 
  • All pets must be on leash at all times in the campground.

Quemado is 21 miles from the campground. There is nowhere in Quemado to purchase a fishing license.



Just west of Quemado, NM, take NM 32 south 14.2 miles to Quemado Lake/NM 103 sign. At sign turn left onto NM 103 and go 4 miles to where Forest Road 13 (gravel) begins. Continue straight on FR 13 for 1.4 miles to campground sign. Turn left into campground.
