General Information
Directions:From the South: Take State Route 14 North (Exit 52 off State Route 17/I-86 in Horseheads) to Watkins Glen, NY. In Watkins Glen, turn right at the Fourth Street intersection onto State Route 414 North. Go approximately 15 miles north. A roadside sign indicates the road which descends to the trailhead parking area, on the left across from Shalestone Vineyards.
From the North: Take State Route 414 (exit 41 off I-90, with a stretch of US Highway 20 between Waterloo and Seneca Falls) south through Lodi, NY. The road to the trailhead is on the right.
General Notes:
Camp Fossenvue occupied the point from 1875-1908. It was a summer retreat for the area’s elites and progressives, especially suffragettes. Its sole remaining cabin, the “Queen’s Castle”, was dedicated to co-founder and “Queen of Fossenvue” Elizabeth Smith Miller. It can be viewed at the site, but not entered.
Caution: The Fossenvue Trail has a couple of sharp switchbacks combined with inclines of 20-30% the closer you get to Seneca Lake.
