Lone Cone Cabin

The Lone Cone Cabin is a great destination for an overnight getaway or a week-long hunting trip. Built in 1936, this rustic cabin is available year round. Located just 24 miles from Norwood, Colorado, the facility can be accessed in the summer and fall by passenger vehicle or 4WD, depending on conditions. Spring and winter access is by snowmobile, skis, or snowshoes along a 12-mile route.   Lone Cone Cabin Brochure

General Information

Directions:

Summer - fall: From Norwood, drive 1.3 miles east on Highway 145, turn right onto County Road 44ZS, and proceed 12 miles. Turn left onto County Road M44, proceed 2.5 miles. Turn right onto County Road 46M/Forest Road 611, proceed about 9 miles. Turn right at the Lone Cone Cabin sign and drive ¼ mile to the cabin.

 Winter – spring (Parking at the East Naturita Parking Area): From Norwood, drive 1.3 miles east on Highway 145, turn right onto County Road 44ZS, and proceed 11 miles. Turn right onto Forest Road 642  and into the East Naturita Trailhead parking area. Park vehicle here and snowmobile/ski 1 mile south along County Road 44ZS/Forest Road 610; turn left onto County Road M44 and continue for about 2.5 miles. Follow the directions shown above (Summer – Fall) to get to the cabin.

General Notes:

The cabin is equipped with a refrigerator, electric oven/range, woodstoves and firewood, cleaning supplies, cookware, dishes, and utensils. There are two bedrooms with a total of six twin beds and mattresses (twin beds can be pushed together to make a queen bed). In the summer - fall, the cabin has running water with a shower and flush toilet. In the winter, you will melt snow for water and an outhouse is available a short distance from the main cabin. Ahorse corral with feed bunk and water trough is provided 150 yards south of cabin. You must bring you own certified weed free hay.
