Middle Quartz Campground - Gunnison RD

Area Status: Closed

The area is part of the mineral belt that extends into Leadville. Many of the 4-wheel drive roads were created by miners over 100 years ago which are now popular for four-wheel driving in the Summer and Fall months.  The campground is near the alpine Tunnel historic site.

Directions: Drive east on Forest Road 765 (Cumberland Pass Road) for 1 mile to Forest Road 767. Turn right and drive 5 miles.
