Jumbo Campground - Grand Valley RD


Area Status: Closed

This campground is at 9800-foot elevation.  The campground is located between Jumbo and Sunset Lakes among mature spruce and aspen trees. The hilly terrain provides privacy for closely spaced sites and a challenge to drivers. Most sites have views of the lakes and are within easy walking distance.

There are 21 sites with electric and 5 without.  Maximum spur length is 60 ft.

The nearby Mesa Lakes Ranger Station was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1941 and provides information to campers. There are lodges close by that provide for a cook's night out. The mosquitoes are plentiful; bring repellent. 26 campsites.

Fees: $24 per night per camping unit; $10 per night electric fee; $10 per firewood bundle; $6 per day for day use/picnic. If occupying a campsite for day use/picnic, the $6 per day fee is applicable from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. If still occupying a campsite after 2 p.m., the $24 fee for per night camping unit will apply, less any day use fees already paid.

Directions:

From Mesa, Colo., travel south on State Route 65 for about 13 miles to the campground sign. Turn right into the campground.
