Roubideau Pack #544


The Roubideau Pack Trail #544 begins at Forest Service Road #533, Monitor Road, and ends at an intersection with the Coal Bank Trail #112 at the edge of the Roubideau Area. This trail crosses in and out of several canyons and over several creeks as it works its way east. After about 0.5 miles, the trail descends into Potter Canyon along a rocky stretch of trail. It climbs the eastern wall of the canyon and in 2.4 miles it crosses FSR #505, 7N Road. The trail next descends into Criswell Canyon which is a deep and wide canyon.  After it climbs out of the Criswell Canyon, it intersects the Moore Mesa Trail #146 at about the 3.7 mile point. The next canyon is Moore Canyon where it crosses Moore Creek and after about 5 miles it intersects the Traver Trail #119 followed by FSR #534, Traver Road in another 0.1 of a mile. It drops into Traver Canyon, crosses Traver Creek climbs back out and crosses Payne Mesa as it heads south. It intersects FSR #506, Payne Mesa Road after about 7.1 miles and FSR #520, Long Creek Road after about 8.2 miles. It follows FSR #520 for 0.25 miles and continues east crossing Bench Creek, Pine Mesa, Bull Creek, East Bull Creek, and Davis Point. At the 10.2 miles point, it intersects the East Bull Trail #155 and comes to an end in another 0.4 miles at the Coal Bank Trail.

General Information


From Delta: Turn west on Highway 348, 6th Street. Travel west and south on HWY 348 for approximately 4 miles to 25 Mesa Road. Continue on 25 Mesa Road for approximately 18 miles the National Forest Boundary where 25 Mesa Road becomes Forest Service Road #503, Delta-Nucla Road. Continue on FSR #503 for approximately 9.6 miles to its intersection with FSR #533, Monitor Road. Turn northeast on FSR #533 and continue for approximately 5.8 miles to the trail beginning on the east side of the road.

From Montrose: Travel west on Highway 90 for approximately 23 miles to the intersection with Forest Service Road #402, Divide Road. Follow FSR #402 north for approximately 16.5 miles to FSR #503, Delta-Nulca Road. Turn north onto FSR #503 and continue for approximately 3.8 miles to FSR #533, Monitor Road. Continue northeast on FSR #533 for approximately 5.8 miles to the trail beginning on the east side of the road.

High clearance vehicles are recommended for FSR #533, Monitor Road.
