Divide #523

  

The Divide Trail #523 begins at Forest Service Road 265.1A and ends at the forest boundary with the White River National Forest.  It serves as a connecting route from the Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265, to the Boundary Trail #525 on the Grand Mesa/White River National Forest Boundary.  The trail travels up the Hightower Creek drainage and connects with the Boundary Trail at the head of Hightower Creek on the north side of Hightower Mountain.

Directions:

LOWER ACCESS:

Travel east approximately 14.2 miles on Highway 330 from the Plateau Creek Bridge in Collbran to its intersection with the Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265.  Turn right and travel 4.1 miles south and east on Buzzard Divide Road to the intersection with FSR #265.1A.  At this intersection the Hightower Trail immediately forks south off the Buzzard Divide Road. Turn left off Buzzard Divide Road onto FSR #265.1A and travel northeast 3/10 mile along Hightower Creek to the lower Trailhead. 

UPPER ACCESS:

Travel 0.96 miles up the Divide Trail itself from the lower trailhead.  The trail also can be accessed by travelling 3.84 miles south on the Boundary Trail #525 from its northern trailhead off of the Silt Road, FSR #270, or by travelling north on the Boundary Trail 3.4 miles from its southern trailhead off the Owens Loop Trail  #539.
