East Curecanti #454

  

The East Curecanti Trail #454 begins at an intersection with the Curecanti Trail #870 on the Paonia Ranger District and ends at Forest Service Road #721 in Big Soap Park on the Gunnison Ranger District. The East Curecanti Trail makes a gradual climb up the Dry Fork drainage to the ridge between Curecanti and Soap Creeks.  It then crosses the ridge onto the Gunnison Ranger District and descends into the Soap Creek drainage and meets Forest Service Road #721 at the private land boundary.

General Information

Directions:

From Crawford: Travel south on Highway 92 for approximately 21 miles to Forest Service Road #720, Curecanti Road.  Turn left onto FSR #720 and continue for approximately 7.4 miles to where the trail begins. Follow the Curecanti Trail #870 for 4.2 miles to the intersection with the East Curecanti Trail. FSR #720 can be challenging when wet. Trucks pulling horse trailers or ATVs should park and unload at the Curecanti Bridge which provides the last runaround.
