Hightower #524

  

The Hightower Trail #524 begins east off Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265.  It climbs away from the Hightower drainage and follows the powerline on the western flank of Hightower Mountain.  The trail reaches a high point on the western side of Hightower Mountain with great views of the surrounding country including Porter Mountain to the south and Ruth Mountain to the southeast.  It continues southeast and parallels Buzzard Divide Road until it intersects with FSR #265.1B.  The Hightower Trail ends on a point overlooking Owens Creek drainage.

Directions:

NORTHERN ACCESS:

Travel 14.2 miles east from the Plateau Creek Bridge in Collbran on Highway 330 to its intersection with the Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265. Turn right and travel 4.1 miles south and east on Buzzard Divide Road to its intersection with the Hightower Northern Trailhead. 

SOUTHERN ACCESS:

Travel 14.2 miles east on Highway 330 from the Plateau Creek Bridge in Collbran to the intersection with Buzzard Divide Road, FSR #265.  Turn right and travel south 8.2 miles on Buzzard Divide Road to the intersection with FSR #265.1B.  Turn left onto FSR #265.1B and travel north approximately 0.7 miles to the intersection with the Hightower Southern Trailhead along the powerline right of way.
