Dismal Falls Trails (Forest Trail #1058)

A small waterfall cascades over horizontal rock slabs into a pool.

Dismal Falls trail is a short, 1/10 mile descent to Dismal Falls, a 15-foot staircase of rock ledges in Dismal Creek. The sound and spray of the running water is as invigorating as it is beautiful. The trail ends a the creek at the bottom of the falls where there are plenty of flat rocks to sit on. Dangle your toes in the water or enjoy a picnic lunch in this scenic spot.

Directions:

From I-77: Take exit 52 toward Bland, VA, and turn right onto Highway 42. Continue for 14 miles on Highway 42 and turn left on SR 606. Travel one mile and turn right on SR 671 / FR 201 (Dismal Creek Road). Parking is one more mile ahead on the right.
