Soldier Lake Campground can be accessed from M-28, which leads to some of the best sight-seeing in the Upper Peninsula Michigan! Campers will experience a remote, relaxing experience far removed from highway noise.  Access to the North Country National Scenic Trail is just off the parking area. This 4,600-mile trail runs from New York to North Dakota traversing the Upper Peninsula. View available sites at Soldier Lake Campground or make a reservation.
 

Soldier Lake Can Accommodate Large Groups

  • A spacious picnic area can accommodate large groups.
  • The picnic area has tables, grills, water, and vault toilets.
  • There is a large grassy area for games.
  • A large picnic shelter, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's, is available for protection from a sudden shower.
  • The shelter has tables and a fireplace for when the weather turns chilly.
  • Please be sure that all fires, whether in grills, fire rings, or the picnic shelter, are dead out before leaving.

Directions:

From the intersection of M-28 and I-75 drive west on M-28 22.4 miles to Forest Road 3138. Turn left (south) on FR3138 and drive one mile to Soldier Lake Campground.

Campground Camping

  • There are 44 sites among red pine, aspen, and maple trees.
  • Each site has a table and fire ring.
  • There is drinking water and vault toilets, as well as easy access to the lake throughout the recreation area.

Lake and Pond Fishing

Soldier Lake is a 15-acre lake. A relaxing day fishing at Soldier Lake may result in catching bass and perch.

Boat access is by carry-in only, no motors are permitted.

Swimming

There is a sandy beach perfect for sunbathing, wading, and swimming. Lifeguards are not present. Change houses are located at the end of the picnic shelter. Children should be accompanied in the water by an adult at all times.
