Island Lake Campground

Island Lake is a 32.5 acre lake where the family camper can enjoy canoeing, fishing, hiking, and camping. Located "off the beaten path," this area receives lighter visitor use than some other campgrounds, so it may offer you more privacy and serenity. Check out this beautiful spot!

Reservations: | Some of the sites at Island Lake are reservable. Reservations for all of our campgrounds are made on our national recreation reservation system. General Information
Directions:From the intersection of M-28 and Forest Highway 13 just east of Munising drive south 8.8 miles to FR 2268. Turn right (southwest) on FR 2268 and drive 2.2 miles on FR 2268 and FR2254 to FR 2557. Turn left (south) on FR 2557 and drive 0.8 mile to Island Lake Campground.
Activities
Campground Camping
Canoeing and boating are favorite pass-times at Island Lake. At this time, there are 11 campsites in a nicely wooded quiet area. Many sites overlook the lake. Facilities include fire pits, tables, vault toilets, and drinking water. This campground is also one of the few campgrounds that allow OHV riding in the campground and provides direct access to the OHV trail system.

Lake and Pond Fishing
Island Lake is a 32.5 acre lake where the family camper can enjoy canoeing, fishing, hiking, and camping. Many other good fishing lakes near the campground include Moccasin Lake, Fish Lake, Baldy Lake, and McKeever Lake.

OHV Camping
Island Lake is one of the few campgrounds where you can ride your OHV from your campsite to the trail system. The other campgrounds are Corner Lake and Hovey Lake. For all other campgrounds, OHV's must be trailered in and out.
Boating - Non-Motorized
Canoeing and boating are favorite pass-times at Island Lake. At this time, boat access is by carrying in. Boat rentals are within 5 miles of the lake.
