At Bay Furnace Campground you can enjoy the scenic view of Lake Superior with its spectacular sunrises, sunsets, and occasional northern light displays. This convenient location makes it a perfect site for the traveler who would like to camp overnight. It is also a perfect place to stay while enjoying the recreational opportunities available in the Munising area. Among many others are the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, Alger Underwater Preserve, the boat cruises, Miner`s Castle, and many delightful waterfalls. Bay Furnace Day Use Site offers spectacular views Grand Island National Recreation Area. The very large day use area has several picnic sites and access to a rocky beach along the lake. Reservations: Some of the sites at Bay Furnace are reservable. Reservations for all of our campgrounds are made on our national recreation reservation system. General Information


From Munising travel west on M-28 aproximately 5 miles to the village of Chrismas. The campground road is located across from the Kewadin Casino. Turn right ( north) and drive to the campground.

Lake and Pond Fishing

Fishing in Lake Superior off shore is best by boat. There is no boat launch at Bay Furnace but there is a boat launch (Au Train Bay Boat Launch) approximately 10 miles west on M-28 as well as in Munising.
