Crystal Valley offers almost 2,000 acres of consolidated federal ownership. The trail system consists of 4 loops, providing 9.6 miles of easy to most difficult cross-country skiing.  Hiking is permitted during non-snow months. The trail is marked with blue-diamond shaped confidence markers on trees and difficulty and caution signs.

The forest in the area is primarily black aspen, beech, maple and white pine. There is a wide variety of wildlife including deer, grouse, fox, bobcat, numerous bird species.

The trail system is groomed by volunteers during the ski season.

  • No special use permit is required for individuals or small groups (74 people or less).
  • Permits are required for commercial, event or large groups (75 people or more).

From Ludington -

  • Travel south on US-31 for 11 miles.
  • Turn left and travel east on Washington Rd. for 7 miles.
  • Turn right and travel south on 120th Ave. for 1 mile.
  • Turn left and travel east on Adams Rd. for .75 miles.
  • Turn left and travel north on 126th St. for .25 miles.
  • Turn right and travel east on River Rd. for .5 miles.
