Sundance Lake was built for fishing. Now, one of the most scenic spots on the forest, this 5.3 acre lake near Spurgeons Corner and Becks Grove in Brown County was constructed in 1992 through the cooperation of the Indiana B.A.S.S. Chapter Federation, Indiana Department of Natural Resources - Division of Fish and Wildlife, Soil Conservation Service, and the Forest Service. The partners wanted to expand fishing opportunities in that part of the forest.

Restrictions: There is no designated swimming beach provided and this lake is not conducive to swimming. Indiana state law mandates a person must not swim or allow a child or other person in their care to swim at a location other than a designated beach during designated hours. State law does allow swimmers to swim from a watercraft between sunrise and sunset in a reservoir property. Please use caution.

General Information

Directions: To reach Sundance Lake from the south, take Hwy 135 north from Highway 50 (junction is just west of Brownstown). Go north approximately 15 miles to a 3-way stop. Stay on 135 which veers right at this junction for 0.6 mile, then take the first gravel road (1190 N), to the right. Cross a bridge and stay on 1190 N. for 0.8 mile. Turn left and go north for 2.2 miles. Then turn left on a graveled forest road. Approximately 0.2 mile down this road is a turn off to the Sundance Lake parking lot.
