Camping at Celina Campground

The Indian and Celina Recreation Area is a tranquil get-away in the midst of the Hoosier National Forest. The recreation area contains Celina Lake (164 ac.) and Indian Lake (152 ac.). It is located 3 miles south of Interstate 64 off State Highway 37. The recreation area offers camping, electric motor boating, fishing, and hiking, as well as a interesting historical site.

At a Glance

Operational Hours: Open for hiking and other activities 24 hours/day year-round.  Campground open season with full services is from April 15th through October 31st. Camping is available on the North Face Loop year-round with limited services. Quiet hours for all campsites are from 10:00 pm to 6:00 am year-round.
Reservations: Campground reservations are required.
  • Reservations can be made online begining May 15th
  • Reservations can be made through walk-up factilities at the recreation area throughout the rest of the year. 
Fees Entry fees are required for use from 4/15 - 10/31. The fees are:
  • 5 per vehicle per day fee for day use 
  • Buses are $5 for the driver plus $1/person - no passes accepted.
Annual passes are available. 
Permit Info: The following activities require appropriate permits:
  • Fishing requires a Indiana state licence. 
  • Boaters are required to follow Indiana state boat registration requirements. 
Other recreation activities do not require a special recreation permit.

Restrictions: A complete list of US Forest Service rules and regulations are posted on bulletin boards in the campground.
  • No hardwood firewood may be brought in to the recreation area unless it has been certified by the USDA.
Closest Towns: Tell City, IN
Water: Drinking water available in the campgrounds and at the Celina boat ramp.
Restroom: Vault and Flush Toilet available
Passes: Annual passes can be purchased for $35 and are honored at Hardin Ridge, Tipsaw Lake, and Indian-Celina Recreation Areas. America the Beautiful Access and Senior Passes provide discounts for annual passes and day-use entry fees. For pass holders, the annual fee is $17.50 per year  or $2.50 per day.

General Information


Located 3 miles south of Interstate 64 off State Highway 37. Turn at the large entrance sign. A gatehouse sits just off State Road 37 at the entrance of the recreation area. GPS Coordinates: Lat - 38o 11' 56.664"N, Long - 86o 35' 53.951"W
