The White Mountain Public Lands Information Center is your gateway to recreation and wilderness exploration in Inyo and Mono Counties. Plan a trip to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. Find out road, trail, campground and weather conditions. Pick up a guide to OHV routes, maps, recreation guides, wilderness permits, even rent a bear resistant food storage container.

Staffed by a combination of US Forest Service, National Park Service and Eastern Sierra Interpretative Association employees, we provide visitor information for wilderness, campground, highway and weather conditions for the Eastern Sierra. public lands in Inyo and Mono Counties and beyond:

The Eastern Sierra Interpretative Association (ESIA) operates a bookstore at the visitor center, with a comprehensive selection of books and maps of the region. Revenue from sales of these items helps support interpretative programs.

Operational Hours: May 1st – Nov 1st: Open Daily, 8 am to Noon, 1:00 to 5:00 pm (closed for lunch)
Closed: on weekends and holidays from Nov 2 - April 30.
Last permit issued and pass sold 15 minutes prior to close.
Rentals & Guides: Bear Resistant Food Container Rental: Yes
Permit Info: Permits: Inyo National Forest wilderness permits, California Campfire Permits, fuelwood permits, Christmas Tree permits, BLM Bishop Long Term Camping Permits.
Water: Water fountain and water spigot. No RV filling.
Restroom: Yes, during business hours.
Passes: America the Beautiful Annual, Senior, Access, Military, and Every Kid in a Park Passes, and California Sno-Park Passes are sold here.
