Whitney Portal Campground
Part of the Whitney Portal Recreation area located 13 miles from the town of Lone Pine, California. 43 Single campsites, Some sites may be reserved in advance, while others are available on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Some parking sites up to 35' long, Firewood, fire grates, piped water, restrooms.

Directions:From Highway 395 in Lone Pine, CA, turn west (at the stoplight) onto Whitney Portal Road and go 12.5 miles to the campground.

Traveling in Bear Country
Historically, there has been a high level of bear activity in the Mt. Whitney area. A bear-proof locker is located at each site at Mt. Whitney Family Campground. All food and scented items must be stored in the lockers. All trash must be disposed of in the bear proof trash receptacles. Do not store food, trash or scented items in your vehicle.
