Mono Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center

At the Mono Basin National Forest Scenic Area Visitor Center, view exhibits on Mono Lake history, wildlife, geology, and explore the interpretive trail. Purchase Interagency passes, rent bear canisters, obtain California campfire permits and fuelwood collection permits. Please call ahead when purchasing fuelwood permits. Our partners at the Eastern Sierra Interpretive Association (ESIA) operate the bookstore, with a comprehensive selection of books and maps of the region. Revenue from sales of these items helps support interpretative programs.

Directions:Located half a mile north of Lee Vining, California, on the east side of highway 395. The visitor center overlooks Mono Lake.
