Spotted Louis Trail #104

Description: This 5.5 mile single track secondary trail ascends from the Little North Fork of the Clearwater River (LNF) on Trail 50 east to the popular Snow Peak Trail 55. There is a nice camping site near the junction with Trail 50 if you are setting off from the LNF. Climbing steeply from the river, this strenuous hike rarely lets up as it climbs over 3000 feet to the Snow Peak ridge. Thimbleberries and huckleberries dot the trail as it winds in and out of drainages that provide a much desired drink for users hiking up this trail. There is a great variety of meadow, rock and forests to enjoy from lodgepole pine to mixed conifer. Narrow tread and sloughing have been historic problems associated with the steep side slope that this trail passes over, so stock users, as always, should check with the FS office regarding current trail conditions. A couple of hunting camps are found within two miles of the junction with Trail 55.
