Tusayan-Montane (formerly Ten-X) Campground

The lovely Tusayan-Montane (formerly known as Ten-X) Campground is located 2 miles south of Tusayan and 47 miles north of Williams on U.S. Highway 180/AZ Highway 64. The campground is only approximately 10 miles from the south entrance to Grand Canyon National Park. Located in a beautiful ponderosa pine/Gambel oak forest on the Tusayan Ranger District, Tusayan-Montane is a quiet, peaceful campground that generally has open camping, single and group sites.

Tusayan-Montane has a short nature trail #42, which is near the entryway to the campground, and is an .05 mile hike and/or bike through tall ponderosa pine trees and one can enjoy the local flora and fauna.

At a Glance

Current Conditions: First-come/first-served camping runs from Friday, March 22, 2024 through Monday, September 30, 2024 for the Elk Loop only.

Reservations now available through recreation.gov for Tuesday, May 14 through September 30, 2024 for all sites except in the Elk Loop. 

Generally open May through September for overnight camping, depending on weather. For specific dates and reservations contact www.recreation.gov or call 877-444-6777.
Operational Hours: Fall 2024 Season: Elk Loop is open till Nov 30th. First come-first serve, reduced rate of $10/night. No water available.               
Reservations: For fees and reservations go to www.recreation.gov website or via telephone at 1-877-444-6777.
Best Season: Late spring to early fall.
Restrictions: Generators can only be operated from 7am to 8pm.
Water: Limited water supply. RV's not allowed to fill up at campground.
Restroom: Yes. 16 vault toilets.

General Notes:
  • There are no utility hookups in the campground.
  • There are no shower or laundry facilities in the campground.
  • The "pull-through" sites can accommodate up to a 35-foot RV or up to 3 automobiles.
  • Most sites listed as "parallel" or "back-in" are only able to accommodate 2 automobiles or one small 5th Wheel or RV.
  • There is a limit of 15 vehicles per group site, of which up to 2 can be RVs/campers/travel trailers. There is no limit on the number of tents.
