AZ Trail walkway

The North Kaibab Ranger District features a section of the Arizona Trail which spans the state from north to south, a distance of 750 miles. The trail starts at the Arizona-Utah border and enters the Kaibab National Forest via Orderville Canyon. The trail traverses the North Kaibab Ranger District, crosses the Grand Canyon National Park, and then passes on to Flagstaff following the historic Moqui Stage line. From there it heads south across Anderson Mesa on the Coconino National Forest to the Mogollon Rim and the Mazatzal and Superstition Wildernesses on the Tonto National Forest.

The trail ends at the Coronado National Memorial at the Mexican Border.

The North Kaibab Ranger District features the oldest section of Arizona Trail. The trail passes through a number of different environments: mixed pinyon and juniper woodlands, sagebrush and grassland communities, and Ponderosa pine forests mixed with aspen groves. At the East Rim viewpoint, there are dramatic views of Saddle Mountain Wilderness, House Rock Valley, Marble Canyon and the Navajo Indian Reservation.
