Group Camping

Carter Meadows Horse Camp is designed for large groups with horses. There are corrals for 25+ horses, several tables and a large group barbeque. Reservations are required.

Day Hiking

Take a short drive to Carter Meadows Summit for day hikes along the Pacific Crest Trail to Hidden Lake and South Fork Lakes.

Snow may cover or obscure trails at high elevations well into June depending on weather.

Fire Information	A current California Campfire Permit is required to use a camp stove, barbecue or have a campfire outside the developed campground. Local fire restrictions supersede the campfire permit. Inquire at the Ranger Station before having a fire.

Backpacking

Take a short drive to Carter Meadows Summit for access to the Pacific Crest Trail. For short trips to Hidden Lake and South Fork Lakes head south or continue on into the Trinity Alps Wilderness. Permits are required for the Trinity Alps Wilderness and no more than 10 people may travel together. Head north on the PCT for destinations in Russian and Marble Mountains Wilderness.
