General Information

Directions: From Yreka take State Hwy 3 south approx 15 miles to Fort Jones. The Salmon/Scott River Ranger District Office is located at 11263 N Hwy 3 in Fort Jones California at the intersection with Scott River Road.

Big Game Hunting

Hunting is permitted on areas of the Klamath National Forest.  There is the opportunity for deer, elk, bear, multiple small game animals, and predators. Within the Salmon/Scott District, deer zones B2 and B6 are available starting the middle of August and running until the middle of October. Elk hunts available in the Marble Mountain zone begin in September and end in November. Bear hunts available on the district start in September and run until the end of December.

Hunters must be in possession of all California State required licenses and tags, and hunt during valid hunting seasons. For maps, information and regulations, contact the California Department of Fish and Game at (530) 225-2300 or online at www.wildlife.ca.gov

Game Bird/Waterfowl

Hunting is permitted on areas of the Klamath National Forest.  There are opportunities for Grouse, Turkey, Dove, Pheasant, Quail, Pigeon and Waterfowl. The Salmon/Scott River Ranger District is a particularly good area for Mountain Quail and Grouse in the timber-lined hills that surround the district.
