Trail through Ross Creek Cedars

The Ross Creek Cedars Scenic Area is located 29 miles south of Troy off Hwy 56 on Ross Creek Rd 398. The scenic area is 100 acres in size and is home to cedar trees 1,000 years old. A 0.9 mile long accessible loop trail will lead you along a path with informative signs of the history and ecology of the many plant and animal species native to the grove.  There are no camping facilities at the cedar grove. Amenities include vault toilets and 2 picnic tables.

Operational Hours: The scenic area is managed from Memorial Day through Labor Day, but is available all year to visitors. Access gate is closed December 1st to restrict vehicle traffic and allow for cross country skiing and grooming of trails. The gate is opened in early-mid May, depending on snow conditions.

Restrictions: Pets are welcome, but must be leashed. Lighting of fireworks is not allowed on National Forest System Lands.

Information Center: Directions: From Troy follow Hwy 2 east for 3 miles to the junction with Hwy 56. Turn and follow for 18 miles (mp 16.84) to the south end of Bull Lake and Ross Creek Cedars road 398. Follow for 4.3 miles to the parking area. Camping can be found at the Bad Medicine Campground just 4 miles from the scenic are.
