#997 Blacktail Creek Trailhead

Blacktail Creek Trail #997 is a short access trail that leads into the Blacktail Creek drainage.  The trail receives relatively little use with most of the users being hunters. 

The trail crosses Blacktail Creek twice just up from the trailhead.  Most of the year these crossings are easily negotiated by hikers and stock users.

Current Conditions: Blacktail Creek Trail #997 is a Trail Class 3 trail. The trail tread and corridor will be very well defined and visible. The trail is scheduled to be cleared every three years. Please check the current trail report or contact Cabinet Ranger Station for current trail conditions.
Restrictions:
  • No motorized vehicles.
  • No mechanized use.
  • Properly possess and store all food, refuse, and other attractants pursuant to Kootenai National Forest Food Storage Order (CFR 261.58 (cc)).
  • Please practice Pack-in-Pack-out and Leave-No-Trace ethics.

Information Center: Directions: The trailhead is located at approximately milepost 9 on Highway 200. There is a short powerline access road leaving the highway that goes to the actual trailhead.  However there is very limited parking at this location.  Most users park on the south side of Highway 200 in a large wide area and walk across the highway to the trailhead.
