Hat Creek Campground

Hat Creek Campground is situated in a mixed coniferous forest, adjacent to Hat Creek. Stream fishing in Hat Creek contains trophy trout. The scenic Spatter Cones Trail is just across the street.  The fun and adventurous Subway Cave is only a mile to the north.

Current Conditions: This campground is situated along the banks of Hat Creek. There are great adventures to be had here, with access to the scenic Spattercone Trail just across the street, and Subway Cave a mile away.
Operational Hours: Check in after 3:00 PM, check out before 2:00 PM.

Closest Towns: Hat Creek Campground is located 1 mile west of the town of Old Station, and 12 miles east of the NW entrance to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The town of Burney is 26 miles north.

Day Hiking

Many day hikes are right close to the Hat Creek Campground.  The Spatter Cones Nature Trail is just across the highway.  Explore the craters, cones, and crevices of the Hat Creek Lava Flow.


Take a stroll along the Pacific Crest National Scenic Trail.  Access is just across the highway at the Spatter Cones Nature Trail or 5 miles northeast at the Mud Lake Trailhead.


Nearby Subway Cave is an adventure for the whole family.
