General Information

Directions: From the Junction of Montana highways 83 and 200 (locally known as ""Clearwater Junction"") travel east on Hwy 200 for 12.5 miles. Turn north on FS Road #89 (Monture Creek Road) and go 7.5 miles, cross the bridge over Monture Creek and proceed slightly to the left for about 100 yards to a small parking area (just a small plowed out area on the right for about 2-3 vehicles). See ""General Notes"" for details about parking at the cabin.
General Notes: The cabin facilities include: kitchen utensils, skillets, pots, pans, plates, bowls, cups & glasses; propane range/oven (conventional home-style unit), small microwave, refrigerator; propane heater, large wooden table with 10 chairs, leather couch and loveseat with end tables, lamps and large area rug, office desk/chair, telephone for local and calling card calls only, 8 twin size cot/beds with mattress protector covering (all of which are located on the second floor via a narrow enclosed stairway), cleaning supplies such as broom/dustpan, mop, dust mop, vacuum cleaner, RV antifreeze for sink drain, fire extinguishers and smoke alarms, first aid kit located in kitchen. This cabin holds a maximum of 8 people. There is electricity throughout the cabin. The heat is provided by a propane heater. There is a standing, hand-operated water hydrant near the porch. A parking area is available just before the bridge on the left (across from the entrance to the Monture Creek Campground area). Please remember this a multiple use area. Skiers, snowmobilers, and other winter recreationists use this area and park vehicles in both of the areas suggested so it could get congested from time to time. From either of these parking spots you can take off on yours skis, snowshoes or snowmobile to traverse down the snowmobile trail to the entrance of the Monture Guard Station area. Enter through the gate that is staked open (wide enough for a snowmobile); proceed through the entrance directly to the cabin. The total distance from the parking area to the cabin is approximately 1 mile. The entrance to the cabin is on the back (east side) of the cabin - this is where you will find the combination lock for access into the cabin.
